What better way to launch into our 2026 Social Season than by offering four equally awesome options for you to vote on.
Vote ASAP by emailing donna@raoust.com; texting 757.288.4883 or submitting your choice at the May 23rd DLIA Meeting.
We’ll start marketing this event as soon as the voting ends (May 23rd). VOTE NOW (and then stay tuned).
1. Boots, Brews and Barbecue
An evening filled with your fave country and southern rock music, brews (plus other drinks) and authentic southern barbecue. Cowboy boots, oversized belt buckles and 10-gallon hats are optional…but encouraged!
2. Surfin’…DLIA
“Everybody's gone surfin’…surfin’ DLIA.” Think Moondoggie, Gidget, Frankie and Annette, Beach Boys and hangin’ 10. An All-American beach event deserves an All-American cookout—hamburgers, hot dogs and grilled chicken. Plus, beach music, bonfire and bevs.
3. Lakeside Luau
Get your ALOHA on—figuratively and literally. This event was such a hit 2 years ago, we’ve put it back in the mix. A relaxing evening of tropical and reggae hits, a hula hoop challenge and a menu featuring chicken kabobs, grilled pork loin and salmon—plus a fruity punch (or two!)
4. Saturday Night Fever…DLIA Style
Loved it or hated it, the Disco Era was certainly memorable…and flashy! Big hair, lots of metallic clothing, and who can forget wild nylon shirts open to the belly button!? Bee Gees, Donna Summer, Gloria Gaynor, KC & the Sunshine Band. Whew!
This will be a high-energy evening of disco hits, a costume and/or dance contest and an era-appropriate menu.
A truly landmark birthday of America, and DLIA will be playing a big part in this Deering town event that will run from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM with activities for residents of all ages—including 250th Anniversary commemorations, a craft activity, a photo station, a picnic and live music.
DLIA will be sponsoring the craft activity, the photo station and the picnic (hot dogs, chips and drinks). So, we’ll be reaching out for volunteers, but in the meantime, please mark your calendars and join us for this once-in-a-lifetime “birthday party.”
We’re still fleshing this “guy” out but start putting your best team together. The idea here is that the cornhole tournament will be hosted at multiple homes around the lake, with elimination rounds leading up to the Finals…a trophy is in the offing for the champs!
All participants will then be invited to the after party with various bragging rights and discussions of who had the best round(s). You know the drill! This is a first for us, but we think it’s going to become a crowd fave!
Our featured family event this year makes a return to the full-on competition mode of 2024’s Survivor Challenge. This year, DLIA makes the CBS reality series, The Amazing Race, our very own.
We’ll develop various “legs” of the tour, where teams will follow clues, perform tasks (beware of Detours and Roadblocks!) and attempt to avoid elimination by finishing first at Pit Stops. Of course, we still have a LOT of work to do on this one, but you get the general idea. Based on Survivor, we’re anticipating a ROUSING GOOD TIME!
DLIA’s signature event, starring drink stations and unique apps brought by guests, Harvest Happy Hour is the perfect wrap-up to another amazing season around the lake.
